INEC insists on run-off, as Obiano wins 16 council areas in Anambra Election

Despite polling majority votes of 174,710, the APGA’s candidate, Willie Obiano is yet to be declared winner of the Saturday’s governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
This was because the total numbers of cancelled votes was more than the difference between the numbers of votes cast for the winner and the runner up of this election according to the State INEC official who read the results at about 6 am Monday morning.

The PDP had 94956 while the APC had 92300.
The INEC official however said that there will be a supplimentry election in the areas where election where canceled.
The officially result showed that Obiano won in 16 Local Government Areas.
They include Aguata, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Njikoka, Nnewi South, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Orumba North and Orumba South.
Comrade Tony Nwoye of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Dr Chris Ngige of All Progressives Congress won in two councils each.
While PDP won in Dunukofia and Oyi, APC won Idemili North and Idemili South where Ngige holds sway.
Dr Ifeanyi Ubah of Labour Party only won his Nnewi North Local Government.
There are 21 local governments in the Anambra State, with 326 registration centres, 4, 608 polling units and 1, 784, 536 registered voters.
